Technology & Communication

Social media has brought so many changes in the world.  This has made public relations more challenging than before. Therefore, public managers should be wise in the way they communicate. It’s not like before when PR representatives used to be the communicators of an organization. When a manager interacts with a stakeholder, the public and the media are vulnerable to interpretation. Due to proliferation of smart devices as well as rea time reporting, PR professionals educate as well as monitor everybody in the organization.  The PR should also develop crisis communication plan incase negative and embarrassing news go viral on social media (Valentini, 2018).

Gathering information and Social Media
There have been changes on the way communicators gather their information. The Communicators show several ways that they gather information.  Information is all over the internet so they can find information from googling or from social media platforms. Magazines, blogs and Newspapers can get information from social media platforms such as Facebook. Technology helps communicators in finding the right information and create greatly executed story.  Due to technology, information is gathered from anywhere (Jurgens, & Helsloot, 2018).
Social media plays an important role in distributing information and news. However, due to the ever increasing messaging applications that connect millions of people in the world bring news ways for gathering news. People post so much personal information on the internet. Operators of the applications leave a lot of information on the internet and therefore, social media is a mecca of information for communicators.

Forms of Communication
The mediums of communication have changed and it seems like objects such as mobile phones are being introduced and changing every time.  A lot of communicators have accustomed to the devices to communicate effectively. The change in form of communication has reduced the traditional way of face to face communication. A lot of companies do meet at the same room. Mobile phone devices have enable people to host meetings without having to meet. Technology has produced, video calls that most people use (Gibson, 2017).
Communicators have been able to learn on how to use and navigate the devices. Communicators will make sure that he/she knows how to navigate the best platform to make the meeting a success.
